RIG-SPECIFIC TRAINING FOR PLC MAINTENANCE & TROUBLESHOOTING<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

INTRODUCTION<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Drilling rig electricians and technicians who are exposed to PLCs at their rigs are usually sent for training for a particular PLC model e.g Siemens Step 7 or TIA Portal or Siemens MicroWin or AB PLC and so on. These courses are usually held between 3-5 days each. Unfortunately, the training which they go to are more of a standard industrial training rather than job\/equipment specific training.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The standard training structure usually prepares the participants towards basic programming, but seldom involves troubleshooting training even if it does it is very general, mostly not specific to the rig equipment.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Working extensively with rig electricians and technicians, we find that the level of PLC troubleshooting knowledge and skills in connecting and accessing the PLC is very minimal, sadly in some rigs it is down to no confidence!<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This prompted OMG RIG MAINTENANCE to prepare a PLC TROUBLESHOOTING training module that will be rig specific, covering various PLC types that is available on each installation, with hands-on workshops to boost the electricians\u2019 confidence.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

OBJECTIVE<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

To introduce and assist rig electricians and technicians on PLC Troubleshooting specific to their rig.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

COURSE LAYOUT (<\/strong>The training will be customized to each rig)<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Course title: PLC Maintenance & Troubleshooting<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Description: 5 days, 8 hours\/day class room\/workshop training. Max: 8 pax\/class<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Day 1: S7-200 (or S7-1200 option)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Introduction to MicroWin, software and hardware.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Connecting to CPU directly, and on DP Network.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Accessing online program and learning how to upload and download the program.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Essential troubleshooting methods using the code (read only).<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Hands-on practice workshop.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Digital and analogue I\/O troubleshooting\/monitoring<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Day 4: S7-300<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Checking external signal via communication (either DP network or Ethernet)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Hands-on practice workshop and exercise<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Day 5: TIA Portal<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Introduction to TIA Portal and how to use TIA Portal to connect to S7-1200, S7-300 and S7-200.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Upload and download using TIA portal<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

End of 5 days training.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
